The very best taro-ball desserts in the DMV!!!
Delicious bowl! Had the lychee ice with brown sugar syrup, mango (so sweet and soft!), rasberries, perfect taro balls, and red beans, on crushed ice, so refreshing!!! Will try the chestnuts next time. Highly recommend.
Very shorthanded. Takes 5min to get ordered. Takes exact 20min to get the food(which is super slow since we only ordered one item). The taro is not as good as Meet Fresh.
it was so yum in tum. the deserts came super duper fast and the boba was so furrylicous. would def come back to here. #stopasianhate🥢🍚🍙
Love this place!! Best bubble tea in town, and the coconut sago bowl is so delicious, must try!!!
This place sells Chinese desserts revolving around grass jelly, tofu pudding, shaved ice and bubble tea. Grass jelly with milk base with mung bean and taro balls: - words cannot describe my love for the grass jelly. Don't be fooled by the word "jelly". The consistency is almost water-like. It's very soft and doesn't bounce back when you bite into it. Instead, it melts in your mouth effortlessly as if you're drinking liquid. In fact the jelly is so soft you can push the jelly through your teeth from the inside of your mouth. You know that feeling when you eat one potato chip and you can't stop eating more because it feels like you're eating "nothing"? That's what this feels like. - the milk is very cold and refreshing. It's very light tasting and not too sugary at all. It could probably stand on its own as its own dessert drink. - the taro balls are chewy. I know the word chewy is subjective, so I'll describe it as a more firm or tough kind of chewy. There's little to no taste, so I feel like the taro balls are just busy work for your jaws to make your spoonful bite last a bit longer. It's all part of the effort to make you enjoy the experience. The taro balls slow you down so you don't immediately inhale the liquid gold-i mean grass jelly. - nothing special about the mung beans. They are just mung beans. Not sweet, and not terrible. Jasmine fruit tea with 50% sugar: - one of the most refreshing tasting drinks I've had in the area. If you order with 50% sugar, then you get a nice balance of the fruits and the tea. Nothing overwhelms each other. The drink is not too sugary, which is a factor that makes this drink so refreshing(if you've ever had a cold soda, you'll know that although it feels refreshing in the moment that you're drinking that soda, you know that sugar bomb will dehydrate you, which is counter intuitive to a refreshing drink). - The fruits are slightly sour and give off that fruity taste. - The jasmine tea is also light. Since this is a fruit tea, it's difficult to taste the floral notes typically found in jasmine tea. - as a bonus, after you finish drinking the tea, you can eat the pieces of fruits! A 2 for 1 special. The owner and staff are always very friendly. Please be patient as sometimes there is only one person who attends the front and also prepares the orders. The atmosphere is a little sterile, but that's ok because the desserts are the reason why you came. The shop is very clean and organized. Until there is more competition in the area, I will be returning back and back again
After reading the rave reviews, hoped to come across a local place that makes good shaved ice. I was sorely disappointed on that front. First off, what they are using is not "shaved" ice but "crushed" ice for their shaved ice. I saw the staff literally pour ice cubes into a machine that crushes them. True shaved ice is made by freezing a cylinder of ice and then "shaving" the ice from the cylinder from the bottom up, making a very fine ice (my family has a small hand-driven machine that does this). Shaved ice should be like eating snow, whereas this ice was very crunchy. Secondly, their taro balls (supposedly their specialty) were also bad. Rather than the dime-sized balls shown on their website I instead got pea-sized balls. Furthermore, instead of them being chewy it felt like biting into undercooked boba balls with a flour aftertaste. A relative that has actually eaten taro balls when visiting Taiwan tried them out and agreed that they were very poorly made. The only good things to say about this dessert are that the topping portions are good and the price is reasonable.
This is the Best Asian dessert I ever had. I love korean bingsu and bubble tea and Cents Taro Family’s dessert is perfect combination version of these two desserts I think! All the toppings are so fresh and authentic. And the portion of bowl are good too. You SHOULD try here if you find something new but great asian dessert!
The owner is so nice! The milk tea was perfectly creamy and the boba was full of brown sugar flavor. This is the perfect place to hang out and eat a dessert that's not too sweet while studying or chilling. Love love love it here!
So I am am told that I’m “lactose intolerant “. This is told by me by my fiancé who hates sharing a room with me after any short of dairy…. Whatever I was never diagnosed so I don’t have it! Anyways, we got the shaved ice and the tofu pudding! Both absolutely amazing, with just enough sweetness and crazy flavor and non of the bloating I get with ice cream! I’m glad to see Asian dessert places starting to pop up! Boba tea is great but I like diversity!
Really good dessert. Not sweet and very fresh and refreshing. The owner is very kind and helpful. The facility seems new and clean. Definitely will come back for more taro sago.
Their flavors are amazing and their portions are super generous! I got the grass jelly dessert with condensed milk and some of my my favorite toppings, which they were really generous about heaping onto the dessert. The lady working the counter is also super nice. I will definitely be a regular here in the future!
I love this place. Taro sago bowl with coconut milk hits the spot in the summertime and the staff is super sweet!!
Decided to take my kiddos to CTF as a special treat on a hot day. We ordered the shaved ice and the tofu dessert + mango, taro ball, and red bean toppings on both. It was their first time trying this type of dessert and they absolutely loved the taro balls and the tofu with ginger sauce. The shaved ice was more like crushed ice not snow and ours was topped with brown sugar syrup instead of condensed milk which I assumed would be drizzled on top. It was a bit too sweet for my tastes (and I just really prefer condensed milk), but my kids loved it. Will definitely be back to try the other desserts!
This place is use ONLY organic ingredients and their portions are HUGE for the price. Honestly a bubble tea in NOVA is gonna cost you $8, but the owner will give you 3 ingredients that fill the whole bowl for $8. It also is so delicious especially if you like healthy Asian deserts! It’s not overbearing like bubble tea or cake. The owner is very friendly and will make recommendations based on what you like. Highly highly recommend.
Went there today first time. It was so delicious! Definitely will go back again! Their Oden 關東煮 wad surprisingly delicious too.
Went for the first time this weekend. Highly recommend. It was our first time trying these type of desserts. The owner was very kind to help me make the best choice for base based off of my dietary restrictions. Very clean shop and dessert , taro bowls, were delicious!! Very refreshing and i cant wait to go back to try other items too. Must try!
Both tears and taro balls taste hard. They are not fully cooked though. Price is really high as well with its size.
The customer service was great and we really enjoyed everything that we had. We'd definitely visit again.
Huge and delicious shaved ice!! So many toppings to choose from and the condensed milk and brown sugar topping make for an amazing snack/dessert! Would recommend, especially for a hot day! I have also had the pumpkins porridge and tofu dessert, both of which were also tasty
Quite pricey for what it is, but tastes pretty good. I’ll probably come again to try other things. One star taken off for price.
Best grass jelly in the area!!! Taste exactly like ones you can find in Taiwan. Highly recommend.
So happy I found this taro place! All the dishes that I've tried are sweet and delicious. Highly recommended to anyone that is craving some taro desserts!
They were very kind and let us sample a few things since this was brand new to my family.
Hands down the best Taiwanese dessert place in Fairfax, VA. There’s not a ton of selection in this area sadly, but for true grass jelly lovers (you know who you are), this place more than satisfied the craving with a clean, fun, and friendly vibe.
The shaved ice was made and presented very well, and tasted super yummy!! I would definitely recommend going and trying their taro balls
